We are a church that loves Jesus, loves people, and loves our community. We are passionate about helping people become fully functioning followers of Christ. Our passion is to build a community of people where everyone can know the amazing power of connecting with God, each other, and with their community. We believe that this is best expressed by our vision statement that we are a people to be striving toward, "KNOWING God, especially as the Spirit has revealed Him in the Person of Jesus Christ and his gospel. GROWING in both our knowledge of Him and his gospel, and in love for him and each other. GOING with this knowledge and love to proclaim the gospel message to a hurting world."
We meet Sunday mornings at 9:30am at our facility located at 6288 Vann Rd in Newburgh, Indiana, for worship service. Immediately following our time worshiping in song and in the Word of God, we gather at 11:00 am for a casual time of Sunday School with classes. During July and August, we take a short summer recess from our Sunday School offerings.
We want you to come any way you feel comfortable. You’ll see others dressed in everything from jeans and t-shirts to business casual. What God is really concerned with is that you are clothed in the righteousness of Christ! The physical clothes don’t matter too much.
What should I expect on my first visit at RWC?
From the moment you first arrive, it’s our goal to make you feel at home. One of our greeters will meet you at the door with a smile and will be ready to answer any questions you might have and take the time to show you around and help you get situated. They can also help you get your kids checked-in or guide you into the worship service.
Speaking of kids, what is available for my kids?
We were hoping you would ask! We have a safe and fun environment for kids of all ages. Our preschool and RiverWind Kids services are tailored for children from 6 months old to 5th grade. All children from Kindergarten and older, begin worship with their parents in our 9:30am worship hour to share in a time of worship through song before being dismissed into an age appropriate teaching by our Children’s Minister who is dedicated to teaching our Children. Additionally, all volunteers who work with our children must submit to background checks and be members in good standing of RWC for a number of months. Cameras and a digital notification system is also in place to provide added peace of mind and security.
What is the worship experience like?
Our experiences are meaningful, creative, and spiritually engaging. Each experience kicks off with a warm welcome, a time of live worship music – which is a blend of live, energetic praise music and usually, a traditional hymn or two. At RiverWind, we feel we are blessed to have such an amazing worship team – we hope you will agree. Then, our Pastor shares a biblically-centered message aimed at challenging and empowering you to apply Jesus’ words to your daily life. We end our teaching time with a few minutes of prayer… nothing awkward, we promise. Then we wrap up the experience by giving an opportunity to give back to God before closing.
What do I do when I first arrive this weekend?
If you decide to visit us this weekend, please make sure to let one of the greeters know that it is your first time with us. We’d love to help you and your family get situated, and our Pastors and Elders would love the opportunity to shake your hand and personally welcome you to RiverWind.
